Signs You Need Gutter Repair or Replacement

No, the rain is not falling harder in just that one spot outside your window – it is likely that you are having issues with your gutters. Just like everything else in your home, your gutters endure wear and tear and will need attention from time to time. By keeping them in good shape, you can extend the life of the product. There are several signs that you may need gutter repair or replacement.

First, if you notice that your gutters have started to pull away from your roof, you should call a Ventura County roofing contractor. These pose a threat of coming loose and falling down, causing damage or injury. Typically, you will not need to replace your entire system, but just the piece or two that has started to come loose.

Slouching gutters can affect the way water moves downstream and off your roof. You may notice several pieces are uneven or that the water falls off your roof in spurts. In this situation, you will be in need of gutter repair. If your gutters resemble a roller coaster, you may be better off replacing the entire system.

A simple visual inspection may reveal that you have rust or cracks along your gutter. When water leaks through cracks, it will cause rust and bigger holes, which can result in water spilling onto the ground in front of your home. Every homeowner dreads pools of sitting water, as it can lead to flooding, bacteria and other issues.

If your basement floods or you see pooling water, it may be a sign that you are in need of gutter repair. When gutters are not working properly, water from your roof can overflow and pour onto the ground below. This can seep into your basement, or simply sit in puddles around your home. Your best bet is to contact a roofing specialist if you notice any of these signs. They can walk you through the problem and offer you either repair or replacement solutions.
