While they are great for extra and natural lighting, sunrooms are not so generous on your ROI. On average, homeowners only recoup about 50 percent of their investment when they put their homes on the market. The main reason for this is that sunrooms are not very efficient. If it is extra or natural lighting you desire, look into installing new light fixtures instead. Your future self and your wallet are sure to thank you.
Home Office Remodels
If you work from home, you might love having your very own home office rather than a kitchen table that doubles as a workspace, but you are likely to recoup less than 50 percent of the cost of your new home office if you sell your property. While it is undoubtedly true that more people than ever are working from home, not all of them want a home office of their very own.
Garage Additions
Before you invest in a larger garage or man cave, know that you are likely to only recoup approximately 60 percent of your investment with a garage addition. That being said, you might be perfectly fine with that ROI. The reason for that specific percentage is that garages have limited versatility, so you might be better off funneling that money elsewhere.
For a well-balanced opinion, you will want to learn just as much about home improvements with the lowest ROI as you do improvements that allow you to recoup the most of your investment. Not everything that glitters is remodeling gold.
