HOW MALIBU ROOFING IS AFFECTED BY THE CLIMATE

While you are out and about on the town, enjoying what the city has to offer, you won’t want to have to worry about things like your roof. After all, who has time for that? Instead, you can take a proactive approach to your roof care. In doing so, you will provide yourself with peace of mind and be able to better enjoy all that Malibu has to offer.

Let’s take a moment to consider the climate found in this area. While the temperatures are beautiful and mild, the air tends to be a bit dry – with lots of sunshine. And, during particular times of the year (primarily late fall, early winter) the Santa Ana winds come blowing through. These winds can reach up to over 115mph – hurricane force winds. Constantly beating on your roof, it's no wonder why it can cause damage.

The damage from the sun can always wreak havoc on your roof. The UV rays and the heat the roof collects, over time, can cause the roof tiles to become brittle and warped. You may be surprised to know that this dry air, wind, and sunshine combined can bring a rough life to your roof.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ROOF

To keep it in top shape, there are a few things you can do. Being proactive allows you to avoid having to deal with the more intricate, time-consuming, costly repairs. Instead, you can take these steps:

INSPECTIONS

Schedule regular inspections of your roof. Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, the roof needs to be inspected regularly to ensure that there is no damage. This is a visual inspection only and you should be looking for warped, torn, cracked, or misaligned tiles.

Any damage you do so should be addressed immediately with a Malibu roofing professional. The quicker you address potential problems, the more simple the solution will be. Waiting to repair or dismissing some problems will only turn into bigger ones.

CHECK GUTTERS

As you monitor your roof, you should also be taking a look at your gutters and water spouts. You do not want any water standing anywhere on your roof. Not only could this cause leaks, but it could also cause further damage to the tiles, resulting in an even earlier demise for the roof. With the sea salt and moisture in the air, it's more likely to cause damage.

Keep your gutters clean and clear of any debris. And be sure you do this regularly as it is easy for blowing winds to carry debris onto your roof and lead to clogged channels and more issues.

Roofing professionals know the importance of maintaining your roof – and they strive to keep it looking well and functioning as it should. So, whether it is a clogged tile pan, a leak that needs underlayment replaced, repairing damaged plywood, installing solar attic fans, or something else – the professionals at All Climate are able to surpass your needs. We know the importance of properly maintaining your roof and we are here to help you do it right.
